Before the cup,
there is a forest.

In the Guji highlands, coffee and forest share the same ground. After fires damaged the surrounding land, Tesfaye Bekele saw a way to help it regenerate: grow coffee beneath native shade trees, creating a livelihood that gave the forest a future. Suke Quto grew from that conviction.

Today, Suke Quto works with more than 150 neighboring farming families. Their knowledge, care and daily work are part of what makes this coffee exceptional. Their story deserves to be as present as the flavor.

As Suke Quto developed, Tesfaye brought attention to the needs of the local school. The farm’s coffee buyers helped support its renewal—an example of relationships around coffee reaching into the community’s future.
It is a chapter in this origin’s history that we are proud to share, and a reminder to look beyond what is in the cup.
